It’s Time to Accept the Robot Takeover (Of Vacuuming).

I’ll bet you don’t vacuum as often as you should. Who really has the time? It takes a very disciplined person to make a point to take care of the should-be-weekly-but-really-aren’t tasks with the regularity that they really deserve. The mere mortals among us need some backup.

Above all, the key is leveraging your time. This is the biggest reason why a robot vacuum should exist in your house. Focus on putting your energy where it counts, like on spending time with your kids or growing your business. Take extra time for your favorite hobby without the specter of an unfinished chore hanging over your head. Our modern lives demand so much of us; we need to seize any opportunity to simplify and offload tasks.

A robot vacuum cleaner like a Roomba or Deebot is a very simple way to do this. Compare the time you spend vacuuming or mopping to the time you could be spending simply maintaining a machine that does it automatically.

I can tell you that a robotic vacuum will lighten your load significantly and keep your house tidy. If you’re willing to let it help, you’ll be very pleased with your new robot friend.

Setup:

Setup is pretty simple. You’ll simply need to download an app for your phone, take it out of the box and then send it on an initial pathfinding run. The next time you schedule it to clean, it will be much more time efficient. It will avoid obstacles, mop and dry the floors you tell it to (if equipped), and charge and empty it’s own bin. All you’ll need to do is empty it when it gets full, and wash or replace the mop pad (if you have it mop for you).

In addition, there have been some key innovations in the past few years. The vacuums are more efficient than they used to be, and they also need to be emptied less often. Several models claim they only need to be emptied monthly (depending on your living environment). The vacuum will need to be the self-emptying kind, requiring the bigger base station. I find this to be absolutely worth the minimal extra cost. Emptying the bin in the base is quick and dust-free. Even if you have to empty it twice a month you’re still saving a lot of time.

They are easy to pair to your home assistant like Google Home or Alexa. Most people run them on a schedule, but once it’s set up, all you need to do is ask and the vacuum will get started.

Have some realistic expectations for what it can do- it will take care of dust and some hair. If you have eleven Shih Tzu running around your house it might not be reasonable to expect a small vacuum to take care of your floors on it’s own. In that case a larger pet vacuum might be necessary.
